Air Show Wels
After receiving a cordial invitation (and of course after approval by higher command) we attended this weekend of the 10th-12th July with our tiger-painted SAAB 105OE. The aircraft was accompanied every day by one technician and one pilot to give answers to all uprising questions of the air show guests. After all our Tiger was something special as it was the only jet – not to mention the chic painting.

But who thinks that we were the only highlight of the show is wrong. Although we have already seen loads of impressive stuff at international air shows we still were astonished by some of the other displays. Just to mention some highlights: there was for example the sound of a real Me 109 which flew escort for a Ju 52 followed by some wonderful overflights. Or the amazing two ship formation of T-6 Texan which proved with a quite dynamic display that also civil pilots can do outstanding close formation flying. In between you had the chance to observe classics like a flight (four ship formation) of Bücker Jungmeister or racy performances of model aircraft.
Unfortunately we were not allowed to demonstrate our own display and so – for a pleasant change – we found ourselves in the rows of the spectators. If in future an invitation from Wels should reach us once more we will be happy to attend the air show again. And we would like to mention the well organised team who made this neat little air show a rememberable event.
