During carnival something strange happened, all the squadrons pilots suddenly disappeared. At the same time fortunately some sheiks showed up and they agreed to take over the missing pilots tasks. But before they were able to do so, they had to do some familiarization with employees and units at Vogler airbase.

So the sheiks started a tour around the airport. Interesting fact was that those guys can’t stay long without their drilling rigs, they literally take it wherever they go themselves. First sites to visit were radar, tower and the met guys at the civilian side of the airport.

Next they did an inspection at the Hercules conversion course, stopped by the commander of the Hercules / Saab 105 technical unit and finally went to the command of the Air Support Brigade. So far the sheiks have been deeply impressed by all they had seen at that point.

There was one visit left to do. Apparently some of the Helo pilots had disappeared as well. A fact the sheiks had to have a closer look at. So they went to the Helo Sqn. and investigated. They really liked what they found over there, so decision was made to stay a little longer, have some apple juice, „crude oil“ and some donuts.

If anybody at later hours happened to meet some sheiks at some bar downtown, it is for sure that those have not been “our” sheiks.
